The diploma thesis is focused on the development of the Magna Via Francigena pilgrimage route in Sicily. This thesis was based on a half-year study internship in Sicily in February/October 2018 and especially thanks to personal experience with passing the route in May 2018, September 2018, and September 2019 from Palermo to Agrigento. The main aim of this work is to describe the current situation of paths, propose improvement of the infrastructure with appropriate tools and also deals with the finding of the pilgrim's profile and the motive for the pilgrimage. Financial the Administration of Sicily as a Roman Province
Hejda, Josef ; Skřejpek, Michal (advisor) ; Falada, David (referee)
This work aims to introduce readers to the Roman administrative and financial law. These laws are closely related to the development of Roman law as such and with its transformation from a small city-state to the land state and finally to a large empire with vast territories on three continents. During this evolution can be observed increasing demands on the state administration and various approaches to the territorial organization of the empire. On the one hand Italian territory was initially given priority as the Roman homeland, on the other hand were provincial units, which alone have been forced by Rome to pay taxes. In the period of dominate these differences were removed without significant exceptions. Sicily was standing at the birth of the provincial administration. Here arose the first forms of provincial rights and also appeared first practical problems of its active application. This remarkable island was a place where Rome learned to control other nations, province which funded the development of the late Republic of Rome, and a platform which helped to control the Mediterranean.
Image of mafia in Leonardo Sciascia's works
Bubela, Petr ; Flemrová, Alice (advisor) ; Pelán, Jiří (referee)
The aim of my thesis is an analysis of the literary image of mafia in Leonardo Sciascia's works from the 60th and 70th of the 20th century. The literary techniques are documented using the examples of the concrete parts of the text in which the mafia operates. At the same time I give an account of the way Sciascia applies the genre rules of the detective story. The subjects of study represent four novels (The Day of the Owl, To Each His Own, Context and One Way or Another) together with one drama L'onorevole. The above mentioned works have been interpreted and analyzed in terms of the structure, genre and language used while the findings of other scholars focused on Sciascia's work have been taken into account of as well. Mafia constitutes one of the key motifs in the work of Leonardo Sciascia. His reoccurring interest stemmed from the fact that he was well acquainted with the phenomenon, partly due to his personal experience and partly due to his intensive study of the matter. Nevertheless he refused to attribute the existence of the mafia solely to Sicily. In his perception, mafia was only one manifestation of Power on which he critically reflected all his life. Sciascia perceived mafia as a result of the social conditions and as an integral part of the power system of Sicily, or consequently the...
Comparison of crime organisations Cosa Nostra and `Ndrangheta
Denemark, Jan ; Mejstřík, Martin (advisor) ; Menclová, Barbora (referee)
The theme of my bachelor thesis is a comparison of the organized crime, especially the study of the structures of criminal organizations such as Cosa Nostra and 'ndrangheta. Because these structures have a significant difference in their style of building their own hierarchies and they are working quite differently in general, I would like to focus on and answer the crucial question in my thesis, to what extent these differences affect the fact that 'ndrangheta is now the most important mafia in Italy instead of Cosa Nostra. The fact that Cosa Nostra and 'ndrangheta are so different in their own structures, their detail comparison is offered in every part of their organization. Besides the description of the social base and the historical evolution which we cannot skip and besides the comprehensive exploration of the development context I would like to focus in my second part of the thesis on the fact how the differences between them influence the major decisions. I will describe especially the difference between the last approximately forty years because on this era we can easily see the difference between the success of these two organizations. While Cosa Nostra is nowadays a shadow of her historical fame 'ndrangheta in this period took over and now this organization is the number one when it...

Italian "Parlamentary Novel" at the Turn of Twentieth Century
Pekařová, Karolína Daniella ; Flemrová, Alice (advisor) ; Piptová, Ivana (referee)
This bachelor thesis presents the parliamentary novel, which had been formed during the second half of 19th century and demonstrates the specifics of this "genre". For needs of the analysis I chosed five main novels: I Vecchi e I Giovani, I Viceré, L'imperio, Daniele Cortis a Le Vergini delle rocce. The text itself is composed by three main chapters. The first part contains a historical introduction of the time of the italian unification, which is necessary for understanding the political background of the parliamentary novel. Particular attention is paid to the affairs that are explicitly reflected in the novels. The historical background ends with the italian entry to the World War I. In the second part I present the authors - Luigi Pirandello, Federico De Roberto, Antonio Fogazzaro and Gabriele D'Annunzio - who reflects in their writings the events of the time, in which they lived. The last part contains the analysis of presented texts from the point of view of narratology and thematics. At the conclusion attention is paid to the summary of topics typical for parliamentary novel.
Greek and Roman musical instruments and their iconography
Waňousová, Lucie ; Ondřejová, Iva (advisor) ; Bouzek, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with ancient string and percussion instruments with additional focus on a hydraulic organ, an instrument that is difficult to categorize. The first part of the thesis is a follow-up to the bachelor thesis Wind Instruments of Ancient Greece and Rome, which is devoted to wind instruments, and deals with the classification, description and evolution of the instruments of the other two instrumental groups. This is illustrated on the background of literary, archaeological and iconographic sources, especially on the vase painting. Vase painting well demonstrates the shape, evolution and regional occurrence of these instruments. In the second part of this thesis the Attic and southern Italy vase paintings will be used to compare musical culture in both of these areas. In Attic music scenes the chronological evolution of depicted instruments is examined, while in southern Italian scenes we will concentrate on the differences of depicted instruments in the regions of Campania, Lucania, Sicily, Paestum and Apulia. Finally, the Attic musical instruments are compared with the instruments of southern Italy. The results of the analyses will be entered into graphs. Keywords: ancient music, strings instruments, percussion instruments, Greece, Southern Italy, Campania, Lucania, Apulia, Sicily,...
